FAA Private Pilot Prep App Reviews

There needs to be a customer service number or email for starters then I paid more money for the audio and it only has 55 questions which is by far a scam. If your only going to read 55 questions tell me that and I can save that bunch of money.

Best tip: take all questions flag your problematic answers and study those for the quickest passing grade... 88% for me... What do they call someone who got a 70% on their flight exam? A pilot :) I probably could have aced this test if I had studied even more... But theres really no one to impress and it doesnt count against you

Hands down the best way to study! Allows you several different ways to study and prepare, well worth the price, actually dirt cheap considering how expensive every thing else in aviation is!

This is the best app to train your theoretical knowledge and to have preparation before the exams

I have been using Dauntless private pilot app for the last 60 days. It is the most comprehensive and detailed app I have used to prepare for my private written test. It is extremely user friendly and fun to use!

This is by far the best app for preparing for the Private Pilot knowledge exam. It has updated several times in the past couple of weeks, so I know I have the latest material. I also use the Learn by Listening feature, which is fantastic when you are on the go.

I am prepping for my private, written exam and purchased several prep aids. This app has the best illustrations and explanations. They obviously put a great deal of time and thought into the presentation of the material, and also the different modalities of learning; there is an audible mode and a flash card system and you can customize the way you prepare. I keep this handy on my iPad and it has accelerated my learning as I am able to pick it up frequently when I would normally be wasting time. Ten minutes here and there really add up to learning gains with this app, since it easily and quickly isolates missed questions. The only problem I have with it so far is that I am not seeing the charts and sectional questions I should be seeing for the glider rating. What happened to Cooperstown, Sandpoint Airports, and the dead reckoning questions for glider folks? This is a five star pick up for me, personally as it so beautifully supplements my other learning materials, the only thing it is lacking are the more difficult chart and sectional questions.

This app is great. Its the only one Ive found that had MP3 audio of the questions so you can learn on the go! I passed my written on the first time! Thanks guys!

Fantastic app. So many ways to review written exam information. Dauntless wont guarantee a passing grade, but if you update your database regularly and study each answer...you will pass ( probably high 90s).

Ive downloaded & used eight different Private Pilot Test Prep / Knowledge apps and this one by Dauntless is by far superior to anything on the market. I ended up using it exclusively for my test prep and found it thorough, beautifully illustrated, easy to understand and fun to use. Concepts that other apps explain in dry, rote terminology are explained in a "plain english" format that will help you understand aviation principals for a lifetime. Youll find yourself using the app to refresh yourself on many subjects once youve passed the exam and received your pilot license … I certainly have. Plain & simple, this app has been the single most valuable resource in my exciting new aviation endeavors. Buy it.

Has questions that are current, and updates are available as the FAA releases new questions. Love the format, and easy to find explanations to the answers.

Just passed my airplane private pilot knowledge exam on first attempt with a 93%. Began flight lessons in mid June and have been using this app to study for about a month and a half! Great prep for todays examination!

The best test prep software out there. Not the best mobile or tablet test prep, but the best, full stop. Considerably cheaper than some of the competition, as well.

Im still a super-satisfied customer. As I expected in my initial review (below), Im coming back to GroundSchool after a year and a half to work on a new aircraft class. I passed my glider knowledge test with 95%, which impressed the DPE. The clear explanations for all the questions made studying for the knowledge test a snap, and I found that I was even recalling several of the answers on my oral. But, theres one thing that I didnt fully appreciate when I bought the app 18 months ago. It comes with lifetime updates. When I decided to add an airplane rating to my pilot certificate, I just fired up my old friend GroundSchool, updated the content, and started studying for the airplane knowledge test. I dont know how Dauntless can make enough money to stay in business by giving away free updates, but if you love aviation and plan to keep learning new aircraft, the lifetime update feature means you should just buy this app now because you will use it for years to come. Once youve done enough reading to understand the material, you need to see what questions look like and learn how the FAA test writers think. There are many ways to do that, but I found that the iPad app was far more effective than alternatives. I always have my iPad or iPod with me, so if I had 20 minutes to fill, I could always take a quick practice session. To take the FAA knowledge test, you need an instructor endorsement. I saved several practice test scores in the app and showed them to an instructor. When he saw how well I was doing, he signed me off right there. (The Windows application has a "get me an endorsement mode" where you demonstrate to the company you are doing well enough, but this feature is not in the iOS version.) The app is also a good value. Even though Ive only had it for a couple of weeks, I have already received a few updated questions. If you think you might want to take a few different tests, the app has the question banks for several tests. I am starting off by getting a glider rating, but I think I will fly powered as well. I used the app to study for the glider test, and I will be able to use it next year for the knowledge test for my single-engine rating, too. And, Ill let results speak for themselves: I passed the FAA test with 95%.

I have tried many apps and programs, including Gleim, but this is the most comprehensive program out there for studying for your FAA knowledge test. It gives you great explanations for things you dont know and provides you with necessary tools in the app to practice with. I highly recommend this app!

The dauntless software is the best preparation for the FAA private pilot test. The questions are great practice and the explanations are clear and very informative. Its also great the way the software is continuously updated based on new FAA test questions and on user feedback. Highly recommended.

My ground school was extremely important on my learning process, but overwhelming there is a lot of info to cover, this application was the best choice I took for my private pilot, Airman knowledge test, it was so easy to go back and study, it has a lot of details, examples, pictures, etc. I was able to study from my iphone and ipad and definitely I aced my knowledge test! 5 stars.

You can study anywhere at anytime!!! This helped me a lot in preparing for my written. (97%)
