Expensive. Vocal teaching works only sometimes and even then almost every question has a different loudness. when I turn off my iPhone and turn it on again all the audio files are gone. Wasted money. Needs a lot of programers work.

Very useful tool to help you study for your PPL license. Was highly recommended to me by someone who flys at local flying club and did not disappoint!

Ive downloaded & used four different Private Pilot Test Prep / Knowledge apps and this one by Dauntless is by far superior to anything on the market. I ended-up using it (almost) exclusively for my test prep … its thorough, fantastically illustrated, easy to understand and actually fun to use. Concepts that other apps explain in dry, forgettable language are explained in a "plain english" format that genuinely helped me understand some tough aviation principals in a way that I wont forget. This app by Dauntless has been the single most valuable resource in my aviation training. Buy it. Seriously.

I have not taken the written test, but having taken the Sport written prior to the ACS, I have a good idea what the tests used to be like. This app does a great job explaining both the content and the FAA test question "peculiarities." I would give it 5 stars except for one major drawback. The sectional diagrams are of such poor quality that they are about useless. To get something readable, you have to click on the PDF, which goes to the website. I have never successfully gotten a PDF that way; the website is so slow that my browser (Safari) gets errors and reloads. After minutes, I have given up and gotten the sectionals from SkyVector. In either case, the program leaves this app, and when it returns, it starts from the main menu. Thus, if I have not saved my session, I have to go back through all the questions - again. And again. The trick is to save the session before going to the PDF of the diagram. Even then, it is a nuisance to have to wait for the iPad to switch contexts, and to start at the main menu. All this would be solved if the sectional diagrams were given at a better resolution.

I study by myself at night after work and its hard to stay motivated some nights. This app makes it fun and interesting. Best of all I stay motivated. Thanks!

This is a must-have program for student pilots. The software is easy to use, and the answer reviews are descriptive and accurate. For high scores this this the software you want.

The iPad app has a pleasing interface, and can be effortlessly configured for continuous learning (with instant explanations) or as mock tests with scoring at the end. Can be easily set to ask questions at random or from a selected subject area(s) to focus on. Explanations are concise, and the whole experience really lets you progress effectively and expand your knowledge quickly to pass the real thing. I was even able to question one of the FAA questions through an easy built-in form, to which a CFI from Dauntless replied almost immediately via email, AND that clarification was integrated into the very next app update! I am lousy with studying and test-taking, but thanks to Dauntless (which my CFI and others recommended) I passed my Rotorcraft Private Written the first time... with a 97%!! It was actually almost fun. Now on to the check ride!!

I used this as my primary tool for studying for the written - and the results say it all - a 97%. Pretty happy with that. The software is well laid out and the immediate detailed answers and explanations are great. Just using it again now to prepare for the oral exam tomorrow.

Love this app. Started out getting 30% on my quizzes on here! then I studied for about a month and got a 98% on my FAA private pilot written exam. It really helps you narrow what ares you are struggling in. And the wide variety of study configurations were extremely helpful with keeping it from feeling redundant.

This is the best of the Private Pilot Knowledge Test apps. The question stack idea works well, you spend more time working on concepts you don’t get yet and not wasting too much time on things you already know well. The answer explanations are far better and more detailed than the other apps, although for some reason they use the E6B differently than I was taught. For this reason I still consulted John and Martha King for wind/navigation problem explanations. Actually this was a good supplement to the King School course. Aced the test today.

The readable part works like Id expect, but theres a bug in the $20 audio upgrade that wont keep the audio files installed. If theyd get that fixed I would give it 5 stars easy.

I love this app, I have it on my phone so I can study whenever I am waiting at the doctor, or pumping gas, its great. I feel so much better about taking the FAA written exam now.

Despite the cartoon-like nature of the UI, this is the best FAA written test prep tool Ive seen. The layout is logical and easy to follow. Most study guides only give you a short recitation of the correct answer and the manual it came from, forcing you to dig through a lot of unnecessary material and wasting a lot of time. This app provides the answers to all questions along with thorough explanations for the right and the wrong answers, clear graphics and complete references. I estimate that this app reduced my test prep time by half, while providing a more thorough understanding of the material. Bravo Dauntless!

Although I originally found this app from the credible site exams4pilots.org, I wAs still skeptical about buying this semi pricy app. This is a great app for student pilots who are trying quickly and efficiently to study for the knowledge test. With this app you able to hone on one or more sections that you may have trouble with. Also helps you memorize questions and understand the logic behind it. U still need to go to ground school, but this helps for review and even after u have passed the test. Im currently using this app to help me study for a test Ill take in April; I think its working well (wish me luck). Also, it might actually be a good price since u get to keep the app and they update the information, so buy it if interested. Its worth the money (basically just as much as a book, most likely cheaper) . I also like the questionnaire format. Its very cool. . Im 19 by the way and Ive been flying for about 7 years and second time taking the test. So Im am a reliable source. Hah:)

The questions, and the overall app usefulness is top notch. But the app doesnt always save your progress, which means in too many circumstances you get to restart your test or practice session. Its still the best prep app in my opinion, but that doesnt mean it shouldnt get better still.

Excellent app. It was well worth the cost... The price of 1 hour of ground!!! I received my 98% with the study help of this app.
